Company History
Farming Parts, a family-owned enterprise, has been an integral part of the agriculture industry for over a century. Spanning four generations, our journey has solidified our reputation as a trusted provider of premium parts and machinery. The inception of our business traces back to the late 19th century, established by the forebears of our current director.
The true expansion of our enterprise began under the stewardship of Mr. J K McElderry, who opened a shop in Ballymoney. This establishment quickly became a hub for seeds, fertilizers, implements, hardware, and crucial spare parts for machinery. Mr. McElderry, also an enthusiast of breeding Clydesdale horses and running a dairy with Ayreshire cows, was a pioneer in his field. He witnessed the transition from horse-drawn milk delivery to the advent of electric milk vans, even overcoming the early challenges of this new technology.
The advent of tractors and the three-point linkage brought about a revolution in agriculture. Mr. McElderry played a pivotal role in this transformation by introducing the first tractor, a Fordson, to the North Antrim region, soon followed by a Massey Ferguson. Today, Massey Ferguson remains our best-selling brand.
In 1947, the establishment of John McElderry Motors and Tractors marked a significant milestone, focusing on the sale and service of Massey Ferguson tractors and Austin cars. By 1983, we expanded to our current location at 24 Market Street, dedicating our efforts solely to tractors and agricultural machinery. Our site now hosts an array of world-renowned franchises, including Massey Ferguson, Fendt tractors, and a diverse selection of agricultural equipment brands.
Our belief in the importance of exceptional staff has been a key factor in our success.
